Opinion Piece by Kira Johnson

I don’t know about you, but I am an avid reader, so I usually have a book near me in some format or other. But only the fun stuff, thank you very much! I respect those who enjoy reading factual information and so on and so forth, but to me, reading is the time to escape. Go on adventures, meet new people, fall in love and cry: All from the comfort of home. Or you can listen to an audiobook while walking, exercising, doing menial tasks around the house and such, and it always makes things so much more entertaining!

Now, I won’t bother you with too much information and boring details, but here is a list of some of my favorite reads (all clean romance, mostly fantasy and adventure):

  • Anything from K.M. Shea. Always fantasy, entertaining with wonderful world building. Her more recent books are the best, but her earlier works are also entertaining.
  • The Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyers. Each MC lives 2 lives in different time periods. Different families, different life styles, different but identical bodies. One conscious mind. And a final choice of which time period (or path) to remain in for the rest of their lives.
  • Books by Sofi Laporte. Typically period pieces (think Victorian era or jane Austen), but hilarious with an infinite number of wacky twists and turns (and a fair share of scandals!)
  • The Belgariad is a more traditional epic adventure story (like LOTR or the Inheritance cycle). The romance is a minor part, but still extremely well-written and hilarious.
  • Melanie Cellier is an excellent world builder, and I particularly enjoy her fairytale retellings.
  • Chandha Hahn is slightly darker than the others in her list (misunderstood villains, MCs who were test subjects, etc), but still an excellent author.
