Art, Storytelling, and Everything in Between

The never-ending quest to tell a new tale

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed many a creative hobby. Recently as I was going through my room, I rediscovered old artwork that I had drawn when I was in kindergarten and early grade-school. It seems that, even in my single-digits, I was fascinated with writing stories and bringing them to life. Today, I continue to do so.

There’s something wonderful about bringing life into a new world, a fresh set of characters, creating (and resolving) a new conflict, and seeing what you can learn along the way. As I write, I also give the world I write a visual element through the artwork I create for it. Sometimes I go the distance and make it move through animation, or compile a clip of sound directly from the world of the story.

While it may not end up being my career path, worldbuilding, storytelling, and artwork are fulfilling creative hobbies that satisfy an inner desire to bring new life and new ideas into the world from somewhere far off and undiscovered. Below is a piece of artwork I’ve made while thinking up yet another new story, one that centers around trains and the restless spirit of the west.
